Call for papers

We are happy to announce that the VALP6 Conference (Variation and Language Processing 6) will be held in Vigo in June 2024. In the spirit of the five previous editions of VALP, the conference provides a venue for researchers coming from traditionally distinct fields, such as sociolinguistics, psycholinguistics, cognitive science, experimental phonetics, syntax and pragmatics, who work on the relationship between linguistic variation, in its widest sense, and language processing.

The following keynote speakers have confirmed their participation:
· Montserrat Comesaña (Universidade do Minho)
· Natalia Levshina (Max Planck Institute for Psycholinguistics)
· Hans-Jörg Schmid (Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München)

Submission of abstracts

We invite abstracts for full paper presentations (20 + 10 mins discussion). Abstracts should be no longer than 450 words (excluding references) and should clearly state research question(s), approach, data, method, and results. The abstract should be followed by five keywords. Submission should be anonymous and via EasyAbs: https://easyabs.linguistlist.org/conference/VALP6. Authors may submit a maximum of two abstracts if at least one paper is co‐authored.

The call for abstracts will open in mid-August 2023 and will close on 05 January 2024. Notification of acceptance will be sent out in March 2024.
